Pioneer Trek

A few weeks ago we had the chance to go on the Pioneer Trek with our stake. Merrill and I were a Ma and Pa. It was one of the most amazing experiences I have had. The spirit I felt as I walked in the steps of the pioneers was so strong. They experienced so many things and what an honor to take those same steps. Martin's Cove was awesome, we were too walk through it in silence and that was so spiritual. Our womens pull was amazing my girls in my family were awesome, we assisted the cart in front of us who was struggling because they had a sick girl on top of the cart. After we got our own cart up the hill my girls went down several more times. After all the carts were up the hill we started walking and then the men were able to come join us, as soon as 3 of my boys were there my sweet Chelsea that was in my family just came over to me and collapsed, she didn't pass out all the way but she did suffer extreme heat exhaustion. Just the way others showed up for her and our family was amazing, I got the chance to sit in the medics trailer for about 3 hours with her as she got her strength back. What the pioneers must have gone through wow!
I will always treasure this experience.

Those who go on these Treks soon realize that our forefathers who came across the plains went through a lot of rough times. It is a great feeling to experience what they went through and come back a whole different person. I was on the support team of one such trek 35 years ago coming up the East side of Imigration Canyon. It was hard, but a lot of fun.
